One of the best sounding MFSL SACD releases out there. There's a lot of depth in the reverb and intricacy to the mix. Unlike a lot of Mobile Fidelity's other releases, the treble is bright and the midrange is just right (bass as well) and everything is very tight.

Bob Ludwig did a great job with this disc. As with the Animals album, these tracks are all straight mono mixes made for 45s and AM radio. None the less, the tone and depth is wonderful considering the source. Beats out my LP by a long shot.

I love this album for it crazy, off the wall funk jazz hip hop or whatever you call it. I was really surprised an electronic album from the 80s was recorded on good quality tape, not PCM. This album is kind of a mixed bag. Some tracks a really good (Woman Oh Woman) while others (Feels Like The First Time) are saturated and dull with peaky midrange. Overall, I don't find the mix of this album to be all that sonically impressive to begin with.

Unlike Ella and Louis, this album is actually true mono mastering (both channels are bit for bit the same). The instruments are a bit higher up in the mix and more spacious, too. Plus, the treble is balanced. There is a bit of a cut somewhere in the midrange. Not sure if that's a fault of the ... more
