Classic rock album....... Foreigners first from 1977. We all remember it.
Big and bold is a good way to describe this album. I also own the excellent sounding dvd-audio which is made perhaps even more bold because of its pcm nature. Unlike alot of Mofi's sacds this one sounds the way you remember it always sounding. Some listeners are upset at some of their releases saying they sound dull and flat. Not this time.
All aspects of the music are beautifully rendered. Nice low end, excellent vocals and guitars. Nice soundstage. Therre are low and loud passages in the tracks and the sound is warm. Nicely analogue.
I was very pleasantly content with this excellent sacd by Mobile Fidelity who are now slowly securing the rights to the Atlantic (Warner) library. This is important as you may know as Warner only allowed their titles to be released on Dvd-Audio and not Sacd. Now ofcourse this has changed and we are all the better for it.
I sincerely cannot find anything to ccomplain aboit with this sacd. Its a great classic album from the past done beautifully right by the talented group at Mofi. Play it loud but not to loud. The bass drum can be very explosive.
Led Zeppelin anyone???????

I can't actually say this is exactly the way I remember it sounding, it's better..
The first Reviewer, I have to admit pretty much nails it on the head.
Some of Mo-Fi's Sacd do seem dull and I think it's just a volume thing with their recording
levels. I seem to have to always adjust a little higher volume wise. I am assuming
they are trying to maintain the integrity of original sound and let you do the adjusting
at your end volume wise.
This one is much better and so have the last few releases (Doobie brothers and The Band)
I don't own this on CD so this was a great reason to buy this and this album rocks start to finish.
Not a bad song in the bunch and the sound is dead on, perfect example of how to do
stereo SACD.
as to this not sounding exactly the way I remember it, I am still amazed at the things
I can finally hear out of song I have known for over 30 years on SACD version of the same album.
Find myself in these .."oh that's cool what they did there..I've never noticed before" moments.
Great stuff, If you can play SACD's and are a Foreigner fan or fan of Rock'N Roll it's definitely
worth the buy.

the only complaint is that i wish vocals would be less laidback and and better emphasized.

When I was just a young lad my brother and I bought this album and it became one of the albums that defined our musical childhood! It still remains to this day one of the GREAT rock albums in my household and I was so excited to order this MoFi SACD........and what a great un !
First the album (if there is anyone who has never heard this) is a beautiful album full of great songs and huge rock sound without any cliches. It was an album that set the stage and helped define 70's rock music (1977).
Foreigner's debut album was IMHO their defining musical moment with contribution of King Crimson's Ian McDonald and the powerful vocals and lyrics of a young Lou Gramm. "Starrider" was THE song for me while I grew up and you can not count the number of times I played this album.
I have the redbook CD, Vinyl, remastered CD and now SACD of this album and must say the definitely this IS THE version of this album you must hear.
Wow.......deeply defined vocal harmonies and a wide pane of tones that stretch from one side of my music to the other. At times the acoustic guitar sounds like it was right beside me!
I would say honestly that until you hear the SACD version you really have not ever heard this album.
Rock music never got any better than the first Foreigner album .
...and why not One day be a Starrider !

| This album is kind of a mixed bag. Some tracks a really good (Woman Oh Woman) while others (Feels Like The First Time) are saturated and dull with peaky midrange. Overall, I don't find the mix of this album to be all that sonically impressive to begin with.

Foreigner - Foreigner Hybrid Stereo SACD 2010 Reissue
In 1977 I had a good job, money, beer, and other stuff, including Foreigner. Good times and rock and roll was making another change before we hit the big 80's.
My disc by MOFI is # 03668. This is a 2010 reissue of the 1977 classic rock album. I have sat down and listened and of course this hybrid SACD is better then I ever remember it. All the instruments come nice and even through the stereo mix, well balanced, able to turn up loud with no issues.
Great songs, arrangements and vocals.
Packaging is stellar. Paper gate fold, duplicate mini LP with separate lyric thin paper gate fold mini booklet. All original liner notes with minor Mobile Fidelity generic wording and thank you credits.
I have purchased all four of the 2010 reissues and looking forward to listening and reviews of others.
