Hello all,

I would really like to search out some wonderful blues SACD's. I have the Stevie ray Vaughn stuff and absolutely love it. Anything else I should check out as MUST-HAVEs?

Thanks!!

This one is a classic and a must have in every serious blues collection. 2ch stereo only.

I'd recommend the recent release from MFSL Keb Mo 'Keb Mo'. It's hybrid/stereo only but an excellent SACD. He also has a couple of other SACD's that are a bit difficult/expensive to obtain but worth it IMHO.

I wouldn't say it's a must-have but in the early days I used to play a track from this disc as part of my demo sequence:

Eric Bibb: Just Like Love

Byther Smith : Addressing the Nation with the Blues

Good old Chicago blues!! This was originally recorded in 1989 at Chicago's Soto Studio...and successfully remastered in surround sound and 2-channel in 2004.

My favorites, best music and sonics:
Eric Bibb: Just Like Love
Eric Bibb: Good Stuff
Eric Bibb: Spirit & The Blues
David Johansen and the Harry Smiths - Fantastic sound, best song "Well, I've Been To Memphis"
Terry Evans: Puttin' It Down - perhaps my favorite SACD of all time, best song "Rooftop Tomcat"
Doug MacLeod: Unmarked Road
Doug MacLeod: Whose Truth, Whose Lies?
Joe Beard: Dealin'
Terry Evans: Mississippi Magic
Joe Beard: For Real
Vivino Brothers: Blues Band

The following have excellent music and sonics
Keb’ Mo’: The Door
Man Of The World - Reflections on Peter Green
John Mayall & Friends: Along for the Ride
Jimmy Witherspoon: Big Blues
Carey Bell: Harpslinger
Eric Bibb/Rory Block/Maria Muldaur: Sisters & Brothers
Junior Wells: Come On In This House

The following have great sonics but the musical enjoyment (for me) is a little lower than above:
Harry "Big Daddy" Hypolite: Louisiana Country Boy
Henry Townsend: My Story
Honeyboy Edwards: Shake 'Em On Down - he is pretty old and his voice sometimes sounds it and he sometimes buzzes the frets
Jimmie Lee Robinson: All My Life
Wild Child Butler: Sho' 'Nuff
Muddy Waters: Folk Singer
Rory Block: Last Fair Deal
Blues & Grass, The 52nd Street Blues Project

I guess it is a bit under the radar (although I see where 20 out of 20 recommend it) but I staunchly recommend Albert King; "I'll Play the Blues for You". It is still available at a very sane price.

hi , this Robert Lockwood is a nicely recorded acoustic blues album. Just voice and guitar, nice live sound. Mixed very much up front.
Easy to obtain, for a nice price!

good luck ,
