Performance:   Sonics:
I’m not a big fan of most blues music that employs electric guitars or organs, so this recording pretty much embodies what I’m looking for in a blues performance. It’s a man and his guitar and he’s there in the room with you. There’s just the perfect amount of ambient sound to give the recording a convincing physicality (by ambient sound, I mean the sound of Lockwood moving and… well, just being in the room).

If I were pressed for criticism, I suppose the guitar mix across the front channels can be a bit confusing at times. It’s seems a bit “wide”, though it’s been a little while since I was in a quiet room with an acoustic guitar, so it may very well be accurate.

Gorgeous.

This is traditional blues. Robert has the voice and style to deliver a convincing sound. I would love to listen to him in a small bar. As for a recording, where I have a higher standard, I just don't find this SACD as interesting as other blues performers like Muddy Waters. Sometimes, when I listen to this SACD, I can't wait for it to end. The songs seem so similar. Needs to vary his style a little or something. Just can't put my finger on it. Sonically, this SACD is excellent.

Great recording with a "you are there" vibe. One of the true giants of blues who doesn't waste a note. Fantastic from start to finish.
