Well Ive waited a long time before even attempting to review this remarkable disc.
Hoped someone else who actual plays the geet would do the honours.
Firstly I wanted to be able to get through it one listen without ecstatic stopping or just plain exhaustion.

I bought this on a whim basically for the sextet which I saw performed live in LAs Disney Hall and wanted a disc for memories.This version with additional strings really does fit that bill.

Hardly a household name but another suprisingly excellent disc from Dacaopo.The varied works and the Opening Ballet Benzin,Petrol in English or Gasoline west of the pond.(GAS is something totally different in the English Dictionary.)
Quality wise the recording is up with the best again and ... more |

Russian Nights with Spanish, Hungarian and Armennian liberties.
I must admit to being sceptical about buying a Russian disc by an orchestra
