This disc has already had hyped opinions as the best Cello concerto by an American etc. Well, I am totally in agreement. It is astonishing and technically also quite virtuostic. An interesting and rewarding round up of 20th C American music.The suprising highlight has to be Douglas Moores 2nd Symphony.A 4 movement well written musical piece, entertaining and pleasant on the ear.

This is certainly the most rewarding and interesting of the Chandos Cycle so far.Tansman freely admits borrowing or being influenced by other composers and in these three totally different works you will frequently find references or outright copying of their styles.

Well I cannot disagree much with the previous review.?.
The sonics are as exceptional as is the playing.Probably the nicest Linn sounding disc
Ive heard.

This Avex classics sacd is not the easiest to find out there.Pity because itcontains an interesting popular variety but slightly misleading title.The mostly well known pieces are French Impressionists pieces.
Sonic quality is about as good as it gets from this very young lookin Japanese prizewinning ... more |
