Please note that there is a JSACD version on SME of this recording which sound MUCH better than the standard Columbia disc. I can't find it any more on SA-CD.net, but it should still be available out there on the net. Nothing to add regarding the performance - it is truly timeless.

IMO this disc along with the Stravinsky represents the best of the Mercury Living Presence SACD releases so far. Only listened to it in stereo, but I expect to post an updated review when my multichannel upgrade is in place. Still waiting for the Archos 5.1 preamp to arrive.... |

Not the kind of music I prefer... But some may have better knowledge of what is going on in the music, so I will not rate it for the performance. The sound on ECM CD releases is usually top quality, but this SACD does not get more than 3½ stars from me. Would ECM please be kind to release some ... more |

Either you like Jimmy's voice and frasing - or you don't. I find him slightly irritating on this disc. But the overall sound quality is nothing less but stunning. Could we please have some more recordings like this. |

IMO this is the best release ever done by Patricia Barber. She has quite some personality in her approach to jazz music (and I like that!). The recording quality is among the very best ever released on SACD. Highly recommended. Bravo. |
