Please note that there is a JSACD version on SME of this recording which sound MUCH better than the standard Columbia disc. I can't find it any more on SA-CD.net, but it should still be available out there on the net. Nothing to add regarding the performance - it is truly timeless. Also check out ... more

IMO this disc along with the Stravinsky represents the best of the Mercury Living Presence SACD releases so far. Only listened to it in stereo, but I expect to post an updated review when my multichannel upgrade is in place. Still waiting for the Archos 5.1 preamp to arrive....

Not the kind of music I prefer... But some may have better knowledge of what is going on in the music, so I will not rate it for the performance. The sound on ECM CD releases is usually top quality, but this SACD does not get more than 3½ stars from me. Would ECM please be kind to release some ... more

Either you like Jimmy's voice and frasing - or you don't. I find him slightly irritating on this disc. But the overall sound quality is nothing less but stunning. Could we please have some more recordings like this.

IMO this is the best release ever done by Patricia Barber. She has quite some personality in her approach to jazz music (and I like that!). The recording quality is among the very best ever released on SACD. Highly recommended. Bravo.
