Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 - Kreizberg          (9 of 9 found this review helpful)
  March 16, 2006

I first heard the Bruckner 7th on a Vox LP back in 1956. There were things in the music that immediately appealed, but due to sonic muddying, quite a bit went unappreciated. My gut reaction is to ... more
Smetana: Má vlast - Davis          (4 of 8 found this review helpful)

I found a great deal of pleasure in this release. While the Barbican sound is excessively dry - would it not have been wonderful to have had this recorded in the Concertgwbouw? I still sat transfixed through the entire performance. I am, unfortunately, influenced by what I know is possible and can ... more
