What is there to add to the Amazon.com review? Only that the Concerto Caledonia is a baroque ensemble that plays on period instruments. Although it isn't "politically correct" some of us are not real big fans of the baroque period instruments and much prefer modern ones. I unfortunately, am one of ... more |

This is wonderful. I've read elsewhere that the intrepretation is too ( can't remember the complaint) but as I listened there were no unpleasant surprises. The music seemed to flow naturally. I should perhaps listen again but what the heck...
I was delighted by this disc. I'm more a fan of the Bernstein of the Kaddish Symphony and Serenade for Violin and Orchestra, so other's scholarly opinions of the "interpretation" should be more valued than my simple praise. My gut reaction is to ... more |

I found a great deal of pleasure in this release. While the Barbican sound is excessively dry - would it not have been wonderful to have had this recorded in the Concertgwbouw?
