I am not really qualified to pass judgment on Suzuki's Bach. However I can recognize superior sound when I hear it and this has it in spades. As to my take on the performances, the reason I disqualify myself is that I really don't care for "period" performances...the slow movement's sound is typical ... more |

I recently received this (ordered because of the enthusiasm Jonty expressed in his review). Well the dynamics are great, and there is excellent clarity. Hilary Hahn's performance has been described as "too fast". I disagree. I think this is the perfect way to play this music. I have no quibbles with Hahn the artist, and certainly none with the technical perfection of her playing. I think it is masterful, beautiful. What I don't like is what DG has ... more |
