It's not a bad performance, and I recall that the LPs got pretty good reviews in the British press when it first came out. Even if you have impossibly high expectations for Fischer and PentaTone, I predict those expectations will be more than met with this disc!

What a Bargain!
This is a first rate performance of both the works for piano and of the Miraculous Mandarin. The sound is mostly splendid - there is great bass and percussion is stupendous. The woodwind and brass are well recorded and the strings are never shrill, no annoying high frequency bite. ... more |
