Wow, listening to the excerpts made me want to buy it, even if I'm usually not into contemporary music.

I purchased this yesterday from BIS' eClassical.com as the reviews state it is a real sonic spectacular. It has deep powerful bass with lots of impact, not just in the percussion instruments but the strings and winds as well. It is large, exciting and requires two orchestras. It was recorded March 2007.
I spent about six hours at eClassical.com and wanted to mention the sound quality of the streaming audio, while still low-res is good enough to hear which ones have deep bass and give a vague idea of the engineering. I was not impressed with most that I heard however I did find two Lalo 24/44.1kHz recordings not released on SACD Symphonie espagnole and Namouna and they have good bass and good sound overall.
I really loved this both musically and sonically and IMHO it's not really a symphony but an Epic Legend. This is another BIS with near-Telarc "concert hall" realism. I intend to praise all BIS recordings that sound good in the hope to steer all of their recordings in this direction.

I am glad you took up my suggestion to listen to this work Aho Symp. No.12
however it requires MCH for best Concert Hall Realism ,Stereo is not sufficient.

Last night I attended the world premiere of Kalevi Aho's 15th Symphony performed in the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester by the BBC Philharmonic under their chief conductor designate Juanjo Mena. The audience gave the work, and the composer, a tremendous reception.
I note that it is a co-commission from the BBC and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra so I hope we can expect an SACD from BIS, or maybe even Chandos, to appear in due course.
The composer's use of percussion, that included bongos, gongs, darabuka, djembe, crotales, marimba, and a bell tree, was simply astonishing and would sound wonderful on SACD.
