Looks like Amazon US has added the SACD + NTSC DVD version of this set to the online catalog. WOnder if they will add the SACD + NTSC DVD versions of the individual discs?

All the Genesis discs (the box set and individual titles) on amazon.com linked to from this site are now NTSC. Start from here:

/genesis.php

I would expect further pricing activity over the next few weeks.

That's for the PAL set. The NTSC set jumped to $309.99! The current mechanism will always show the cheapest option but that may not be the one you want. I just added a link to the cheaper NTSC set on CD Universe ... follow the link above.

I wonder why US labels and retailers are so reluctunt about SACD.

The price is currently $150.09 USD at cduniverse.com for the Box Set in NTSC scheduled for april 17 release. I have never ordered from them but have heard they are OK so I might just pick some up.

I noticed on amazon.com and amazon.ca that the NTSC box lists the bonus disc as being in PAL. This is probably a misprint but you never know.

Amazon.com lists both the PAL and NTSC versions:

PAL: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000MTOQKE/sacdinfocom-20/ref=nosim
NTSC: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000OCY712/sacdinfocom-20/ref=nosim

The mechanism here will seek out the cheapest version, which in this case is (now) the PAL version.

Oh dear...my Sony DAV800 home cinema system and 'sacd' player doesn't seem to recognise the hybrid sacd's and plays them as standard cd's with stereo sound!

£83 down the pan!

I received the set yesterday (bought at Amazon.fr for 107€ incl. shipping). No problem here on my sony player. So far I only listened to "Wind & Wuthering" in multichannel. The MC remix is quite good, but I find that the sound is lacking some bass. I did not yet compare with my original RBCD version nor with the CD layer of the SACD. I'll post an update when I have more time to listen to them all.

Hello,

I have received my box today from Amazon.fr and I quickly started playing "A Trick of the Tail" in multichannel... and the big deception started... The sound is awfully bright, treble is harsh, bass is thin and lacks body... Dynamics are not very good... At higher volumes the treble can make you ears bleed...
I thought my system was broken so I played one of my best SACDs just to check, but everything turned out fine.
I also tried the "Trick of the Tail" SACD in stereo on my other player... results are as bad as in multichannel... So far I can say that this disc is one of the worst souding SACDs in my collection.
I did a quick test with "Wind and Wuthering" but the sound was not better... What's happening? I cannot imagine we have waited so many years for these SACDs and all we got were these crappy sounding discs... :(
