Of course the musicians on this recording represent some of the biggest names in Jazz for that era, but the performance is very laid back. The recording volume is too high for great dynamics and the overall sound is somewhat thin. This is certainly not the best Miles Davis SACD available. |

Like Yola this album has some great music and lyrics although I believe overall suffers from the absence of Brian Connor. But the considerable musical talents of Ms. McEvoy are again center stage. Easily the best album Eleanor McEvoy has made musically and sonically - a masterpiece! In fact this may be the best pop/rock album sonically that's currently available. Brian Connor's keyboard and piano work is exceptional and compliments Ms. McEvoy's vocals to a "goose-bump" level. A must have SACD ... more |

Although I don't agree with the previous reviewer who felt Nancy Bryan "phoned it in", I understand personal tastes differ in everything. Although her voice does sound a bit strained on track 6 "Salvation", there are many excellent lyrics and melody on this SACD, especially the first 5 tracks. ... more |

I've put off this review for quite some time having purchased this SACD quite some time ago. I was expecting something much more from this album with big band era tracks like "Jumpin' at the Woodside" and "One O'Clock Jump".
