This was the first SACD I bought, and I picked it up the same time that I purchased my player. The pros that installed my multi-room home theater system that next day used parts of "DSOTM" to balance the speakers. That was 6 months ago.

This disc sounds great.
As far as the performances go, Wells and his producer assembled a strong collection of songs from Sonny Boy Williamson, Junior Wells, Little Walter, Tampa Red and--get this--Tracy Chapman. Recorded in 1996, two years before his death, the 62 year old Wells' singing and ... more |

These are the best performances available for these two symphonies, period.
This is the best-sounding version of this particular CD. It is warmer than the redbook and has more definition.
Other performances may have newer engineering techniques, but I doubt they are performed as well. This ... more |

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
I've got Goldberg Variations on redbook played by Glenn Gould, by Rosalyn Tureck and by Scott Ross(harpsichord) so I'm pretty familiar with the piece and different styles of its performance.

Too bad all their albums weren't re-released in MCH 5.1 SACD. This collection will do in the meantime. There's some fun tricks in the surrounds on quite a few songs.
