I've had this SACD for about a month, but I held off on reviewing it until I'd given it several listens.

I don't know what Croc was hearing. I've owned this SACD for a few months now, and everytime I play it I'm amazed at how true the sound is. It sounds as if John Lee Hooker is sitting in your living room. Steve Hoffman did a great job with this one. |

Wow.
I've had this on LP, cassette, CD, remastered CD, and I've even got a bootleg of Townsend's home-cooked demos. This is like a wholly different piece of music altogether.
This one goes to "11"
The redbook layer is a huge improvement over the recently remastered CD.

This is the best Bowie album, from start to finish.
The multichannel effects are pretty good--a bit more than "ambient," yet not as "placed" as you hear on "DSOTM" "Avalon" or "Sea Change."
Fun stuff.

Stunningly incredible.
After reading reviews for months, I picked this up yesterday and listened to it twice last night. It was everything I thought it would be, and more.
If you've got a multichannel setup, you need to get this SACD right away. |
