This 2-CD set is wonderful. Starker's playing is great, and the 3-channel sound quality is very nice.
I'd highly recommend this. |

Niiiiiice. Finally a "Layla..." that sounds like we all KNEW it should. I picked this up from my local Borders (only 1 copy at this Houston store, go figure) and "previewed" the redbook version in my car on the drive home. This is my least favorite Dan disc, but as of now it is the only one available in SACD (c'mon Universal!!) That said, the sound is fantastic. Songs I really had been tired of hearing sounded incredibly fresh, with nuances I had been unable to hear from my old redbook version. They really did a great ... more |

This sure sounds nice. Stereo sound. It's not as clean as the Analogue Productions' John Lee Hooker disc, but it's pretty damn good. Great balance between the vocals and the instruments (esp. the bass). And it is Muddy Waters playing with Buddy Guy and Willie Dixon. What are you waiting for? |

If you like this album, you'll definitely have to get this SACD. Giving the Allman Brothers the multi-channel treatment is a big, big plus. Greg's voice over there, Duane's guitar over here, Dicky's guitar over that way, and a solid rhythm section spread over the spectrum. I'll tell you, I had ... more |
