Well, as this was my 14th recording of Mahler's 5th (my 5th on SACD) I decided to give this a serious listen before posting my thoughts.
I have to give this very high marks for performance and sound.

I am going to join the growing chorus (no pun intended) in praising this SACD. This has been a SACD that I have wanted for a LONG time, but for some reason, never bought it. Well, enough was enough, and last week, it arrived.

Hmmmm,
I am going to give this high marks. This was one of two new Proprius SACDs, and I find this SACD to be just fine. While I will agree that it is not on par with Canate Domino, there is nothing on this disc to warrant any negative reviews, other than the music provided is a collection of ... more |

Before the other night I had never heard of Akiko Suwanai, and after a few days of listening, I am glad I HAVE heard of her!!! I have heard some of these pieces played live before, usually at pops concerts...and usually played with a lack of anything resembling a sense of care or feeling...

I do not understand why people are dissing this SACD. I bought this with high hopes in adding another SACD of a Bruckner symphony, since I already have the Harnoncourt 5 & 9...
