Having just been disappointed with the Praga Digitals Kocian Quartet: ...
Smetana, Sibelius: String Quartets - Kocian Quartet
... as I opened the wrapper on this Praga Digitals recording ... this time not the Kocian Quartet ... but now the Prazak Quartet ... I must admit I was rather nervous about what was to unfold. But - nothing to worry about here ...
Performance: ____________
Splendid. The Prazak Quartet's performance is polished, refined, and thoroughly professional throughout. Looking through my collection, I see I have been very impressed with another SACD of theirs:
Penderecki: Piano Sextet, Chamber Music - Prazak Quartet (on my recommended list)
And this one is a splendid performance too ...
Sonics: ______
Very clean sound - but a bit overly reverberant and shrill for my liking. I find the quality of sound of the (analog) Quartetto Italiano Haydn recordings
Haydn, Beethoven: String Quartets - Quartetto Italiano
to be far more natural. But this is minor quibble in a fine recording. Recommended.
Programme notes: tiny font - too much eye strain to read
SuperJewel box: No (old CD box) Recording: Pure DSD
Performance: 4 Sound quality: 4
