Performance:   Sonics:
I recently purchased my first PragaDigital sacd several months ago and was pleasantly surprised at the sound and performance on that disc. I also wondered out loud if any newer discs by Praga would benefit from the new advances in Dsd and recording techniques. After listening to this new disc I would say that answer is yes.

This new sacd showcases another great selection of Haydn string quartets with very impressive sound and musicianship.

The performance is dramatic and tender depending on what portion of the cut is being performed. The sound is rich and full bodied in the best of terms. Massed strings when played furiously are captured beautifully and powerfully and with no loss of musical information. The dynamic range is equally impressive where the music goes from soft to fast and hard almost instantly and the dsd recording captures it perfectly. The low end feel is also great on this disc where bass like sounds are rendered terrifically. This is just a great classical disc and sacd.

There is great joy to Haydn's string music and he was simply a great master of this format. I prefer his Quartets to those of Mozart and Beethoven. But of course thats just my preference.

This is simply beautiful, sublime music that feeds the musical soul. Its about an hour long too.

Highly recommended.
