First let me get this off my chest.I am a Simple Minds fan.I own the entire remastered catalogue of original albums and was quite excited to finally get my hands on "The Minds'" Best of SACD.
This truly is a remarkable collection of tracks spanning the bands entire career up to 2000.I would normally be giving it five stars, however, for some unknown reason, when compiling this collection, the powers that be have only included the radio edit of "Love Song",one of the bands early break through singles. Thus the four star rating. This track is one of my faves and I can't understand why we get an edited version of this remarkable tune yet we get full versions from the "Once Upon A Time" album which is also available on SACD.
I know I'm being fussy, but I already own "Once Upon A Time"on SACD and thought more time(there's plenty to spare on disc one)could have been set aside for tracks off OTHER albums.
Don't get me wrong. This is a brilliant Best of from one of the worlds greatest bands!

I have had this disc for over a year now, and I hardly ever play it. There is some great stuff on it though. Simple minds have made some great songs and they are all here, but there are also a lot of fillers. No way two disc were nessesary to make a best of, one would have been plenty.
Sound quality isn't that impressive either, at best the quality of a good CD.

As a big Simple Minds fan, I must admit that I got this purely out of completeness. There's not much to recommend it except that it is the only way to get certain mixes and ANY tracks before New Gold Dream on SACD. Mind you, I think the albums coming before New Gold Dream weren't terribly well recorded: great music, but sonics were lacking. If you were to only pick one title: I'd recommend you get New Gold Dream on SACD and DVD-Audio (different mix!!) and if you like the more poppy sounds, get Once upon a time. You could give this one a skip...

All the album were issues a few years ago in small carboard LP replica sleeves and these have excellent sound quality too. Too bad they didn;t get the SACD treatment at that time...we could have had the whole catalogue. The only one I really miss on SACD is Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call
