This was one of my favourite albums of the 80's and I think it has held up well over time. I have the original Virgin CD pressing with the purple label and the sound quality was good. I also have a standard vinyl and gold vinyl pressing of this album which is how I first heard it. I also have the recent Simple Minds limited edition re-issue in the cardboard sleeve (standard CD resolution) which had some improvement over the original CD.
I recently got the DVD-Audio version as well and I was shocked to hear a different mix of the album which I had NEVER heard before. The SACD which I have is the standard mix. If you are a serious Simple Minds fan, I think you should have both this SACD and the DVD-Audio for the different mix. Between the two, you'll have the 2 best digital versions of this classic album.
From a content point of view, Hunter nad the Hunted featuring a keyboard solo by none other than Herbie Hancock is brilliant. Well known hits like Someone Somewhere in Summertime, Promised you a Miracle, Glittering Prize, and the title track alone make this a must have, but this was an album I routinely put on from beginning to end. Highly recommended. For even a casual fan of 80's music, this is a must have title and as I said, if you are a fan you should also get the DVD-Audio version!
