Performance:   Sonics:
The intro on this disc sets the tone for the entire 1 hour 15 minutes. These are beautiful, flowing, melodic and at times almost haunting pieces, played with a sensitivity and subtlety that Accardo brings to all the works I have heard him play. Beautifully accompanied by Bruno Canino - of whom I never heard before. The write-up says something that I recognize when listening to these pieces. The duo have taken a 'vocal' approach to the music, rather than an 'instrumental'. This is a very nice way of describing Canino/Accordo's work here.

The sonic quality of this Fone SA-CD is very good. Smooth. Warm. Analog like in its presentation. Piano and violin; get these right on your system and you've got something special. And believe me, I have heard megabuck systems get this so wrong. My own solid state amp is not really getting piano 'right'. I recently heard a 30K hybrid custom build amp that got it right. When you hear it you'll know. It's quite an achievement I can tell you. Having said that I enjoy what this SA-CD does in my system nonetheless. The piano has sufficient body and presence and the violin has detail, never sounds scratchy and you can hear the wood, hence I give it high marks.

The booklet says that the original analogue master tapes were transferred from Nagra 4S directly to DSD. I forgot how nice this music was - had this disc since early 2002. Highly recommended.
