Agreed; if a fistful of dollars can buy a handful of DVDs, surely the same fistful can buy more than one BD-V, 3D or otherwise!

Yup, can't wait till all TV broadcasters start using 4K resolution as their standard. It does look amazing!

The support infrastructure is a major prerequisite for 4K. Until that's in place and stable, nothing will happen.

My 120Mbps Internet connection & 4K tv are 'in place and stable', so I'm already waiting for content providers to make 4K happen.

But you're right that the lack of needed infrastructure may be a problem for lots of consumers. After all, today still 4+ billion people on the 7 billion planet lack access to the Internet. And out of the lucky minority of Internet users probably only a fraction has sufficient bandwidth for 4K... It's really high time ISPs stepped their game up in terms of both coverage and offered Internet speeds.

As for BD~Vs in steel cases......I'm with you, Derek. I bought a bunch for between $10 and $12........max!

Lest we forget, 4K is right around the corner. Perhaps they'll package a select few titles in Titanium cases.........at Titanium prices ;-)

These are limited edition titles. Once they go OOP, guess what's going to happen.

As an example, the steelbook of "Skyfall" was immediately OOP shortly after release. It's now fetching prices of £50 and higher.

As an example of better artwork, here's the standard BD:

... and here's the steelbook:

I learnt my lesson with this one as it was my first steelbook. It was sold out prior to release. Fortunately, Amazon had a second round of them, from which mine came.

That said, I purchased my copy of it for the better packaging and artwork, not for financial speculation. It's not for sale.

Went to see some wildlife in Northern Finland:

34 encounters with at least 13 different individuals.

Looks like an excellent trip; to get to see wildlife up close and personal...and live to tell the tale! Nice one AR :)

Very nice Tapiolas.

I fondly remember when one could still make a decent living from photographing wildlife.

I have quite a few friends who have been to those hides. I have to make it there too one day, sorry night.
Ideally also covering some live music performances while in Finland. I still haven't been inside the new hall in Helsinki.
I have only seen it from the outside. But I have heard some of Ondine's recent excellent recordings made there.
The only wild brown bears I have seen and photographed were in Canada and the USA.
But many a "Baloo" in India.
