Thanks for the suggetion Poly,

The Bran-burgers are on the grill sizzling and smoking.... The cembalo continuo is delightfully just audible, and Mrs Beagle notes that the horns have a nice buzz to their waveform on my new toy [Marantz SA-11S2].

While I am greatly impressed by Fasolis' Bach Cantata SACD:

Bach: Cantata "Der Zufriedengestellte Aeolus" - Fasolis

... unfortunately, I cannot include myself in the fan club of his Brandenburgs. For my taste, the Brandenburg performance is far too orchestral, and overly grand for the times. It is almost symphonic. And I think the brass are overly dominant, to an absurd extreme.

I have had this SACD for a year or two ... just had another listen ... and my mood to it hath not changeth, nor improveth.

Colin, I know what you mean, sort of, but I find that any such views on my part are overwhelmed by the sheer exuberance, joi de vivre and elan of the performances. No matter how many times I play it, I am still bowled over by it. A real favourite.

It's one of my favorite versions for that very reason! Oh well, different strokes.
