No wishing to pay the rip of costs of import ,duty, vat,post office handling charges etc for Wish you were here which would effectivley have almost doubled the cost. I ordered it from Amazon UK on December 23rd, The dispatch date has since been put back twice, Now this morning got an email basically saying they are unable to supply the disc as supplier has not got it in stock. Several questions arise out of this. Should Amazon advertise goods they have not got in stock? Also since the demand for this disc is so high could this not have been forseen and extra copies produced. As I alluded to earlier the import cost of discs into the UK from none EEC countries is extortionate effectivly dampening down demand to only the very well heeled resulting in slow sales and demand. The fact of the high demand prove that there is demand for SACD titles of the right type. I would buy many more titles from Japan but they are not usually multichannel and are highly priced, surely the Western arms of these companies must be aware of the sales and it would be a simple matter to release them domestically at a reasonable price

Mmmm - very difficult.
Yes - let's hope that there is enough demand for particular titles, so that these record labels produce enough albums to fulfil demand, and keep producing!
The import duty/VAT/Royal Mail charges are a tricky issue, and I was very lucky to get my album from the USA (at considerably less than any prices shown on the Amazon sites) without being caught for any of these charges.
I'm sure that there's nothing wrong with what Amazon UK are doing, and I've just noticed it's no longer listed - only from Marketplace sellers.
Still disappointing though, I'll admit.

There is no additional vat or impoirt fees on it, since both the uk germany and my country ( Denamrk) is in the EU..
I will recommend fenn music in düsseldorf great service i had it in 2 days.. 48 euros it will be for you..
that is still less than 41 quid..

And is this is also in breach of forum rules. The links provided under the title reference to amazon, jpc, cdjapan are there to provide Zeus with income to help keep the site going.

Meh. This happens. Sometimes something is listed in stock and it turns out to be unavailable. What can they do?
You've just gotta suck it up, mate.
This title is €40 (£33) on .de, £43 (new, inc P&P, from resellers) on .co.uk or $44 (£28.60) from .com.
I don't know how much it was listed at when you ordered it, but £30 - £50 is not outside the normal parameters for an SACD release.
I doubt you would be complaining if you could get it somewhere else for only £1 or £2 more (say a £5 paperback). Like I say, this happens sometimes. I'm guessing that it's £10 or £20 more expensive from the Amazon resellers, otherwise you wouldn't be making a fuss. Do you really expect them to go and buy it from a 3rd party for £43, then sell it to you at a loss, just so they can keep the "promise" of their advertised price?

Firstly thanks to those who replied to me with advice much appreciated, however some of you have missed the point of my complaint it is not the advertised price that I object to, I have been known to pay large amounts for a disc I particularly wanted, My argument lies mainly with the extra charges out of the sellers control. I for example bought the Aretha Franklin Greatest hits direct from Rhino its cost was 19 US dollars at the time, but it got "examined by the UK border agency, the result was that the price tipped the scales at delivery to me of £34 not far short of double !!! this has made me wary of ordering high cost discs from outside of the EEC a £50 Japanese SACD could end up costing £25 more than the advertised price if caught by customs. Which is why such discs should be released domestically and not just Japan. As for Strolls comment about expecting amazon to buy it from a 3rd party and sell to me at advertised price I do not of course expect that. I have no problem at all with that. I do not like the fact that Amazon advertise product on preorder and then fail to deliver (often due to circumstances outside their contol) and then disappearing into a black hole. i would much rather they advertised stock they actually had in stock not something that might appear or not at some transient point in the future.

I think sometimes patience is needed regarding SACDs. I ordered my copy of WYWH a few days before Christmas and Amazon have told me that my item is despatching soon at the very reasonable price of £26.63 (and that's free postage of course). Despite e-mails about the item being delayed, I'm glad I waited.

Unfortunately this would remove the frequent pre-release bargains.
