Any performances of Elgar's Cello Concerto available on SACD?

Also opinions as to which is the best Ravel 'Bolero' on SACD?

If there were (there's none currently) they'd show up with "search" above. There's a recording of Bolero with Skrowaczewski (OK, I had to copy & paste!) from Mobile Fidelity coming soon.

As long as everyone is waxing nostalgic about the forum, here is one of the oldest threads. Some things never change...

The ancient but wonderful du Pre recording is available for the Cello concerto

This is the version to get, still available cheaply: Elgar, Delius: Cello Concertos - Jacqueline du Pre

Agreed that we really need a modern SACD version, ideally not done with a chamber or second-tier orchestra.

I almost bought the Du Pre SACD a while back but was put off by the generally negative comments found in the discussion page for the release on here: /showthread/84701//y?page=first

I see two people leaving negative comments and 1 giving positive comments, and that 13/16 recommend it.

Yeah, I'm not sure the recommendations, or even the positive comment, were there when I would have been looking (when the disc was first released).

It's a shame that the people who recommended the disc haven't commented. I know the performance is great (I have the RBCD) but the negative comments about the sound quality put me off. I seem to recall other releases in this series also getting a bit of a bashing so that might also have contributed.

You're absolutely right though, it is only two detractors so maybe I should give it a go.

I would give this one a go; plus it has both of the "Daphnis et Chloé" suites:
Ravel: Daphnis et Chloé, Boléro, Pavane - Gergiev

It's my go-to title for both works.

Try this one. It may not be the very best, but it is serviceable:Elgar: Cello Concerto - Yoohong Lee/Menuhin And you get the Nursery Suite as a bonus.
