The only drawback to the Channel Classics Fischer Mahler 4 is that it is shipped in a cardboard packaging (not a SuperJewel case). Many of my cardboard digipacks are already showing obvious signs of wear ... which becomes a problem, especially since SACDs are not directly rippable ... so what you buy is 'forever'. I will generally try to avoid buying digipacks in the future, with possible exceptions for truly excellent items.

A couple years ago I purchased a box of super jewel cases from Coudal Partners:

When I need to replace a digipak, and I have only done this once, it is a good solution

I'd never let this stand in the way of purchasing a recording I wanted, but I agree, the digipacks are dreadful. I know some people think they're less fragile than jewel boxes, but that hasn't been my experience. The problem with simply replacing the digipack with a jewel box is that some producers' persist in gluing the annotations to the digipack, while others include gorgeous thick booklets that won't fit in a jewel box and require a slipcase.

I agree with you!
And, as I said before, one CAN obtain super jewel boxes. It is true that the "artwork" etc becomes something of a chore - trying to retain the integrity of the design inherent in the digipak's artwork and booklet. But when the cardboard has gasped its last, well a replacement super jewel box is a nice alternative. This thread seems to be more about digipaks more than Mahler! There is a pre-existing thread on this subject of digipaks!

Hello,
I recently saw this gloriously performed by the BSO and I would like to pick up a good performance on SACD. I see there’s quite a few to choose from, so I am soliciting recommendations. Thanks.
Boston, Baltimore or Bournemouth?

There is another solution, one can put Digipaks in CD-sized Japanese resealable outer sleeves when NEW, this will keep them looking brand new.

Here's a link for purchase of mylar sleeves:
http://www.sleevetown.com/plastic-cd-sleeves.shtml
Just scroll down mid page.
I use these on everything that isn't too big to fit. No more scratches on the plastic jewel boxes, and no more scuffing on the digipaks.

@hiredfox, Sorry, Boston. Here's a rather effusive review, if you're interested. http://classical-scene.com/2010/02/12/bso-best-night-in-56-years/ I'm very interested in picking up the other two pieces as well, but thought i'd start with the easiest to find. The Berg was mind-blowing.
All, Thanks for your help. Fischer seems to be the general consensus, so I'll start with that. Thanks.
