The latest release in Harmonia Mundi's series of Handel recordings with Richard Egarr (the Opus 1 Sonatas) appears to be CD only. The previous 2 releases were on hybrid SACD.

Does this mean Harmonia Mundi are abandoning SACD?

Many SACD's are in the works including recently released:

Stile Antico "Song of Songs"

The Brandenburg Concertos with the Academy of Ancient Music/Egarr

and the upcoming release of the next installment in the Egarr/AAM Handel Series, Op. 7 Organ Concertos

Why don't you write to HM if you are so concerned.

That's good news. I'd missed the announcement.

I do have the Op.1 set and it's very good and interesting, too - excellent essay by RE in the booklet. The sonatas were written for star players in Handel's London orchestra; don't be put off by the lowest opus number and imagine these are juvenilia.

Dear Brad Michel, thank you for your rapid answer and clarification! I was shocked hearing that harmonia mundi probably will drop SACD. This could have been the continuation of the HM France policy. The new Idomeneo is a CD-only release. What a pity! - So I am glad and relieved, that harmonia mundi USA will continue the release of SACD's.
I am a big fan of your recordings on SACD. For me your pure DSD recordings belong to the best sounding SACD's at all. The timbre of the instruments is incomparably natural, the music is thrilling. My favorites at the moment are the Mozart violin concertos and the great new Brandenburg concertos. Now I am looking forward to the next installement of the Handel organ concertos, which you mentioned. The last Handel/organ concertos Vol. on SACD also was great.
My personal wishes for the future: Mozart symphonies and his beloved horn concertos.
Thank you so far and best wishes for your future projects.

What is the basis for this statement?
The above poster, ciderglider, was posing a question, not stating a fact.

Hope its sounds better than the dreadful Eroica SACD. :-)

stvnharr, your are right, partially my post is mistakable because of my bad English: I meant "possibly", when I wrote "probably. - But on the other hand my concern is based on the alarming fact that the new Idomeneo (harmonia mundi France) only appears on CD. So my thoughts are not only hysteria.

Harmonia Mundi does dual inventory sacd. SACD is but a small part of their overall releases. One only has to look at their website to confirm this. Irregardless, I have always found them to release a high quality product.

Hopefully the release of the Op. 7 Organ Concertos will rest your mind.
