I hear a sour note at 6'27" mark into the 1st mvt. to Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 1. I don't know anything about playing violin but it sounds wrong to me.

Everything else is OK.

I don't hear anything anything particularly wrong at that point; the double stops (playing on two strings at the same time) might not be absolutely perfect, but they are in the realm of acceptability. There are dissonances built into the actual music by Prokofiev that you might be hearing as sour. That said, I don't have the score to this concerto, and I don't know it particularly well either. I was looking forward to hearing Fischer live for the first time playing this with the Bavarian Radio Symphony at Carnegie Hall a couple months ago; unfortunately, she cancelled due to illness, and Gil Shaham substituted for her.
edit: I just saw your post with the link to the score; the note you circled is on the g string in the midst of a series of double stops on the e and a strings, and it sounds like she didn't cleanly find the g string, and actually might have contacted the body of the violin instead.

Sounds like a stray pizzicato to me.

Just had a listen to that passage (also at half-speed in Quicktime) ... and compared with other performances by Shlomo Mintz, Ricci & Igor Oistrakh.
The passage is basically double stops on the top two strings (A&E), and then you have to swing the bow over to the bottom G string to hit the circled red note for one single note, and then pop back to the top 2 strings. The note is not really critical - just a filler. In the case of Julia, I think she more misses the circled red E producing a slight blitch sound ... rather than playing it wrongly. This is not really different to any of the others: in the case of Shlomo Mintz (also at 6min20secs), the orchestra does a splendid takeover job, obscuring the violin during the difficult passage. Ricci and Oistrakh junior (both at 5min 20secs) don't seem to hit it either, as far as I can tell.
In Julia's case, I would be more concerned by the accented top B (3 notes earlier) which she gets out of tune.
I thought her Mozart Violin Concertos are really superb ... and I really like her Bach unaccompanied sonatas. Her Russian concerti SACD (this one) is still impressive, but somehow I don't feel she gets the full Russian gusto grit that these works ... particularly the Prokofiev and Glazunov require. I prefer Mintz for the Prokofiev.

A-ha! Thank you, everyone :) I was just curious about the wierd sound coming out from her violin but I was not complaining about the performance.
