I too experienced a lot of trouble with the BSO website. I THINK I've ordered the disc, as I was eventually able to get past all of the problems everyone else here experienced, and actually got to "submit" my order. Still, I never received the customary email notification that the order had been placed, nor have I received one stating that it's been shipped. Time alone will tell, but there's no question that whoever designed that website is either a sicko who likes to make life difficult for others, or someone without a clue as to what the sales of the discs represent.

i finally got my order in by using a different computer at another location (maybe it didn't like my iMac), and an email confirmation.

but OMG was it difficult!

BSO.org is perhaps the worst internet purchase site I have ever experienced. I may or may not have succeeded in placing an order with them after two attempts. When I check my order history on the site, nothing is there so the odds are that the order was not placed. I will wait a few days to see if something shows up.

In the meantime, I have sent them an email with my registration login asking for order status. I expect that if I receive a reply it will be "And what order was that?"

I got the confirmation email right after I'd placed my order. However, it took about 24 hours before the information concerning that order was shown in my BSO account. The BSO store also never notified me that the discs were shipped. I contacted them once through email and got a quick reply.

Also I did have a few problems when placing my order, but I can assure you the discs are definitely worth all the troubles!

Are these BSO SACDs not going to be distributed, and be sold on, eg, Amazon?

Hi,
I work for the BSO and manage the BSO website. Over the last couple days we experienced some problems with our ticketing system, which also handles merchandise and digital music sales as well. These issues prevented patrons from buying tickets, buying CDs (and SACDs), purchasing digital music, downloading digital music, and accessing order details. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience. We are working as hard as we can to get things back on track. We appreciate your patronage and hope you will give us another chance.

Thank you. I have placed the order again and this time everything appears to have worked just fine.

course we will. i for one want to support this excellent SACD venture by buying the discs and hoping more will be forthcoming. the BSO's a great orchestra, it's great to have them using the format.

thanks for coming on the forum to clarify the situation.

After wondering whether or not the order I submitted for the BSO/Levine/Brahms' "Ein Deutches Requiem" had been accepted, I sent an email to "Customer Service" on the BSO website. I did that almost two days ago, and have yet to receive a response. I'm very anxious to obtain that recording, and am tempted to reorder it, but I don't want two copies of the disc. I guess I'll just wait a few more days to see if anything arrives in the mail before ordering again.

In the meantime, four discs ordered through Amazon.com arrived with no troubles or delays whatsoever. One of the discs is the Eschenbach/Philadelphia Orchestra recording on Ondine of Mahler's 6th which was a "used, like-new" recording that cost only $11. Aside from the fact that the disc wasn't sealed, "like new" certainly described its condition perfectly - what a bargain!

In a recent AOL poll, Amazon was selected as the #1 retailer (online or B&M) in terms of customer service. I have to agree, especially when having to return an item: amazon couldn't make it easier. Too bad the BSO recordings aren't available (yet) there.

Agreed. I made an attempt to purchase Daphnis and almost went to the point of confirming my order - until I saw the shipping rate (only for US deliveries by the way). Too bad, this seems to be a brilliant recording, but I won't purchase it so long as I have to add half the price for shipping.
