I remember about 5 years ago my Sony XA-777ES had problems with reading some SACD's. I cleaned the laser with Isopropyl alcohol and it helped. No problems since. Same thing happened with my Sony B/R. It was driving me crazy with the message 'cant read the disc'. I cleaned the laser and problem was solved. I hate this Sony B/R with passion but it still do the job.

Cleaning a laser lens works if the lens is dirty and that's what causing the issue. Cleaning the lens of a faulty laser won't fix anything, although the lens might be clean.

I am repairing a Xindak SCD-2 CD player that uses a Sony transport
I'm looking for the flat jumper film cable that goes from the Sony laser pick up KHM234ASAA to the curcuit board.
On the cable it says: E228339 AWM 20798 80C 60V VW-1 25 pins 26mm (1-1/16) wide 82mm (3-1/4) long 1mm pin pitch This will be the short wide cable in the picture. Since I don't know what model Sony player this transport is usually used in, I can't hunt for a model number and the Xindak company is no help. I have written Tech Cable, but they have not responded. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This will likely be a hard to find item. I'd say your best bet is to somehow find a broken player that has a 25 pin ribbon cable. Perhaps you could go around to repair shops with your cable and ask if they have anything.

Liberty Electronics can custom make you any cables you want.
