WOW! Simply amazing! I recently acquired this one and was blown away by these fresh and highly charged performances.
The Mch recording is superb and... IMMERSIVE!

There is also a native DSD download available. I'll go for that one.
I have been listening quite a lot to the old very coherent and simply miked Living Stereos on SACD lately and would really like to hear more simply miked recordings from more labels.
And unlike Nielsen's music discussed in the thread above, which can get a bit manic imho, I love Handel's music.
I think Beethoven said about Bach ,"Bach ist kein Bach er ist ein Meer!" And of Händel he reportedly said "Händel ist der grösste Meister."

I haven't had a chance to compare the Mch mix with the Stereo mix of Handel's Memories. Can you audition hirez samples before buying? The performance is extremely quick paced at times, but full of spirit, character and drama. Eduardo Banzo's discussion of Handel's music being vocal and the need for musicians to make their instrument "sing" was interesting. I also have always loved Handel's music as well as Bach's. And actually, I find that I listen to Handel more than Bach.
I often wonder why his (and so many other Baroque composers') music is often overshadowed by Bach's on forums like this.
I am not complaining, but it does seem a bit much at times.
Anyway... Bach, like Mahler, certainly is in vogue these days.
Those Living Stereo recordings are truly marvelous. Even the subpar ones are listenable. I was just spinning the hastily arranged Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninov: Piano Concertos - Van Cliburn and found myself enjoying the whole thing.

Sacdman definitely loves his Cliburn...as do a lot of people (myself included ;-)
OT, but have you tried any of AP's recent releases of Living Stereo? They are so expensive and I wonder if the improvement (if there is any) justifies such a price. And as you know, I'm not a double dipper by nature.

I've tried some of the newer AP Living Stereo (the Reiner Sound/Reiner: Pines of Rome/Fountains of Rome) SACDs and they sound spectacular but I really had no problems with the original Living Stereo $11.99 SACDs.
Which is why I wanted you to read sacdman's review. He was using a dCS stack SACD player and his amps/speakers were State of the Art and his review of the Van Cliburn (the original SONY SACD) was a bit different and more glowing than the other reviews.
My original SONY Living Stereo SACD of Stokowski's Rhapsodies Rhapsodies - Stokowski is simply amazing and wonder if I will double dip once the AP SACD is released.

Perhaps it's been discussed here already, but I really can't understand the logic of AP re-issuing those Living Stereo SACDs. Are many of the earlier ones OOP? Did I miss something? I mean surely AP could be releasing other music instead. Which leads me to why I hesitate to double dip. I find it very hard to stay away from music/recordings I haven't heard. And fortunately, we've still got new SACDs coming down the pipe. Karg-Elert: Ultimate Organ Works Vol. 8 - Elke Völker is on its way. And Poolplayers: Way Below the Surface just arrived today. Fabulous! Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
