I haven't heard it and probably won't buy it either.
But if so I would only download the Mendelsohn. I am very happy with Ning Feng's Tchaikovky recording from Channel Classics. But this release got an "Empfehlungen des Monats" ie high recommendation from Fono Forum.

"Nothing special" was Gramophone's verdict. So many recordings that it is hard to see how anybody could add a new twist. Highly rated artiste nonetheless.

With recordings by Heifetz, Oistrakh, Milstein, Grumiaux, Szeryng, et al, a resounding YES!

You quote recordings done 50+ years ago. Feng on Channel is a recent release.
Nevertheless, if we all just listened to old recordings there would be no need to listen to new things. How closed-minded.

If they are new and better than the old, then fine. I rarely find new performances to have as much personality and style as the older ones. When I first got into SACDs, I dutifully bought new releases just to have them in that format. After a while, I decided that I'd rather listen to an old recording that had more guts and drive than most new ones that often have more tepid playing. (Is the quest for perfection the overriding goal rather than musical interest these days?) In fact, I've been buying more vinyl lately than CDs/SACDs!

Well, this one is on Spotify, so I would recommend at least giving a listen to see if the performance is good enough.

Typical - I lurk at and read a couple of vinyl sites on the internet, and, for SO many of the participants on those sites, it seems as if music ended 40 years ago - they're stuck in a time warp. There must be something psychological about it!
Having said that, I'm a bit tepid in my interest in Stainbacher's new album, even though I like a couple of her previous Pentatone albums, such as the Korngold Concerto, which, BTW, I feel she plays every bit as satisfyingly as (although WAY differently from!) Heifetz.

These Concertos have definitely been recorded over and over again. But it is definitely interesting to know: Tchaikovsky's original composition was much slower then as it is played nowadays.
The intention of Arabella Steinbacher & Charles Dutoit with this release was, to bring to bring back the original tempo of Tchaikovsky's scores.
(A lot of reviewers rated without detecting this very relevant aspect.)
