But no one has Getz's tone, whatever you think of the music he makes otherwise (mostly yawn though very beautiful sometimes).

I really like these, the first a lot more than the second, though:

Lee Konitz: DiG DuG DoG

Lee Konitz: Parallels

The second is way more boring and conventional, Chesky session type. The band, too, is a lot better, in fact pretty brilliant by any standards, on the DiGDuGDoG. Some surprises there.

Konitz is a unique voice and if you are into improvisation, no one is above him. He's the peak.

You may be correct on that, but to me Paul Desmond’s tone is unmistakable, I can immediately recognize his tone, the one and only.

Looking for suggestions into best SACD title .. most likely Jazz? that features the beauty of a saxophone sound.

Thank you for any suggestions.

What about this one? Jazzy Mozart with no less than 5 saxes: Quintessence Saxophone Quintet: Moving Mozart

In the pop/rock genre (in which, to echo Nielsen, a saxophone is like a hair in soup), there's Dire Straits: Brothers in Arms, if naff eighties sax is your thing.

And Foreigner 4 featuring Junior Walker on Sax ("Urgent") !

Multichannel SACD from Warner Japan: Foreigner: 4

Stereo SACD from Mobile Fidelity: Foreigner: 4

Grover Washington Jr.: Winelight

Hey Igor,

You have to purchase this disc that Adam suggested, he is right on.

Brand new 2015 5.1 multichannel release by Audio Fidelity is screaming good.

Every track full on sax, all tracks great.

Multi Channel mix is unbelievably good. The remix goes front/rear which of course is normal but then it goes right/left at times.

Groove is tight, and in a word, stellar. Forget all those one track suggestions, you want a full on Sax disc in 5.1 glory, this is it.

In fact if you buy it and you don't like it, I will refund your money, that is how positive I am.

Man, them's fightin' words, Markie. Better hope no one takes you up on that proposal. And yes, it's a great album.

Another proposal for AF for those SAX lovers is The Bedroom Mixes: Jazz at the Movies (Unfortunately not presently on SACD but available fairly inexpensively on DVD~A 5.1). If you loved Winelight then this is a positive NO brainer. Every track is fantastic and the recording is exemplary (akin to Winelight).

Let's hope the folks at AF are listening because this is a slam dunk.

One of my Getz faves is JAZZ SAMBA ENCORE. I always love the Getz sound and I have a real feel for this recording.

Then of course there's always Gerry Mulligan....
