Hello, got this one awhile ago, listened casually a few times, gave it a good listen this morning. Recording has a lot of room sound, the church setting is quite resonant. Instruments are well defined in the sound stage, slight muddiness in the low frequencies due to the room acoustic. Overall impression is a good representation of the live performance. This type of space is usually used for classical music, nice to hear jazz in this setting. After listening to this cd, I played on track from the Lee Konitz/Warne Marsh 1956 recording and Konitz's sound has not changed much over the years! This is a fine group. Lee's liner notes describe a certain synchronicity that was present at the session. I very much enjoyed Peter Bernstein's guitar, Mark Turner's tenor was compatible except at one point for a chorus he played some whole note harmony behind Konitz I felt didn't quite jell. This is one I will definitely go back to, love the cool, Tristano influenced, jazz style, that Konitz perpetuates.
