For $280, you should have struck gold with these remasters which Acoustic Sounds is toting as "the second coming!"

At the end of their blurb they absolutely guarantee that these remasters done from 30ips master tapes (w/bonus cuts) are the finest money can buy.

I'd send them back if I was dissatisfied!

And, as usual, you are paying roughly $100 for the special silver foiled box which encases the SACDs!

Thanks, yup I tried calling Acoustic Sounds about this today, I did not get very far... These are unlistenable.

Sounds like a Quality Control issue as I have 'almost' NEVER been disappointed with an AP SACD remaster!

I just received a very low number of the SRV SACD box...
Unfortunately, after listening to two of the discs, I can say these have very poor sound quality. The MoFi versions are light years ahead in detail, lack of distortion and air. This was a EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING result after all the waiting.

For once, it looks like I done okay, having purchased the MoFis. Sorry, though, that you're having problems returning them ...

I unloaded all my MoFis as I prefer the two Sonys with the bonus tracks and didn't care for the music all that music on the others.

AP was well aware of the surround mix that was available but just blew it off. They pretended to be really interested in it at first.

Really!!?

Why is it so hard to get a surround mix released? One gets the feeling that's not all they are blowing off...

iirc, cupboy tried to get AP to get it together and then put AP onto Thom Cadley (or vice versa) who remixed Couldn't Stand The Weather for Surround SACD 10+ years ago and it seemed fairly promising..

..but it all came to naught and no explanation or even mention from AP (or ThomC for that matter, who is a QQ member to this day and still pops on there from time to time) as to what the dickens had gone on or whether the Surround mix was even viable or under serious consideration for inclusion in the upcoming box set.

On a personal note, I was thinking about getting this set but I'll stick to my old single layer jobs of the 2 albums that Sony did back in the day, I guess, especially as these new discs are actually inferior anyway by the sounds of it.

Thanks for your take on the box set. I was considering an order but based on your review I will not order at this time.

Thank you for your post. I was considering this set but I will hold out until I hear that they have fixed the issues or simply no order due to their poor final product. Thanks again.

I just purchased. I feel confident that I am going to love it.

Minor discussion on this box set, but no reviews, why?

Give me a couple weeks and I will write awesome review.

I just watched Austin City Limits, give out first annual award to Stevie and Double Trouble, listening to my Legacy RBCD of Texas Flood, and I am fired up, with Jack and Bud Light of course.

The only thing I DETEST about Acoustic Sounds SACD box sets is that they literally charge $100 for the freakin' box. 6 discs @ $30 each should be $180.......AC charges $280 w/box....ridiculous.

I concur with Audio Ed (who BTW has a fine system) that the MoFis were great. I also have a few of the original SONY SACDs and they aren't too far behind the MoFi, at least on my system.

Good Luck Mark. BTW, the best price was through Amazon's third party vendor ImportCD which charged brand new $240 + $4 shipping........$180 for the discs and $64 for the box......a bargain ;-) and $220.78 if you buy direct from ImportCD but you'd be nailed for California state tax.

Sometimes you just gotta think OUTSIDE THE BOX!
