CDjapan is my favourite Japan store. Their packaging is great (2 discs are shipped in a bubble jacket within a cardboard box. Indestructible), and the shipping rates (air mail) are very low.

Their website is so-so (useless search engine), but as I mainly use the shopping links on this site, I don't care about that.

A man after my own heart. I have never, since 2004, had a damaged package or cracked CD case when ordering from CDJapan and they also answer their e~mails immediately whenever I have a question.

That type of service deserves customer loyalty and I shall continue to oblige.

Hmm,
Judging from the covershot this ...............................

Chris,
This recording was made in October 1998 at L'Eglise de St. Eustache, Montreal. EMI Classics 7243 5 56789 2 6.
This took me less than 30 seconds to look up at www.discogs.com.

The information in your post is all incorrect. It's not hard to post correct information and makes your posts more relevant.

Oops sloppy of me again,
anyway thanks for the link. Never heard of it before.
I was just guessing, she looked so young on the cover.
And I wasn't really providing any information only speculating,in this case wrongly.
Since I was too lazy too find out the facts, maybe you could also say how it was recorded 16/44.1 or higher?
That was what my speculations where based around.
There are some SACDs that are just 16/44.1 masters re-mastered for SACD. And I see no reason to expect any real improvement in SQ in such cases .
That was all.
But you are absolutely right, facts are always better than mere speculations.
Cheers Chris:-)

Discogs is a great source for discographies and used lp's and cd's.
Another website that might interest you, as you are a tube and lp guy, is www.high-endaudio.com. It's worth a look.

Chris,

Sorry I didn't reply to your post. It's my fault this thread ended up being more about retailers than Argerich.

I'm not sure about the remastering specs, but this disc never sounded that great. That's why I upgraded to HQCD and then SACD (I'm really not buying every disc under the sun ;) As I said earlier, the HQCD improved the initial RBCD quite a bit, and the SACD better yet, particularly with the piano sound. However, there was, and still is, a slight harshness to the upper register of the piano, but my ear adjusted as I was once again riveted to what Jed Distler calls the "Argerich force of nature."

If we're talking about 1998, then it's fair to assume a higher sampling rate of the original PCM recording. I would bet my hat on it.

I would only bet on higher bit depth. Maybe 20 or 24 bits, higher sampling rate is unlikely.

That seems reasonable for a 1998 recording.
I don't have many EMI cd's and I don't recall ever seeing recording information on any of them other than time and location.

Well, I will find out with this release as I have it going to my son's apt in Tokyo
