Performance:   Sonics:
As far as I can find, this is the first SACD made from an EMI stereo master, and it is a great success. THe performances are high on any list of the finest versions of the two concertos, worthy of comparison with Rubinstein, Perahia and Ashkenazy, and the sound, in comparison to the excellent RBCD version, is warmer, richer and fuller. It would be wonderful if the existence of this disc means that EMI is considering getting its corporate feet wet in the SACD waters.
