Deeply moving approach from Fischer... Channel Classics's 5.0 recording captures the Concert Hall's acoustics perfectly. Tempi are mostly faster than usual - for example in the first movement - but they aren't hurry. the strings tone is warm and emotional.

Lovely performance from the Concertgebouw Orchestra and its chief conductor Mariss Jansons! This is my first impression of the RCO Live's SACD. It is at the same time my first SACD of Dvorak's Ninth. I wasn't disappointment.

I was surprised, even disappointed, when I heard this at the first time.
The performance is very good. The first movement begins from the shadows, quietly and mysteriously. Fischer builds the impressive raising to the main theme. The whole movement's tempo is slower than usually - but it is of ... more |

Another wonderful addition to the REMASTERED CLASSICS. Lenny's approach of Bizet's "Carmen" is historical in every ways. His tempo choices were surprising: sometimes he used traditional tempi and the other tempi - for example the opening Prélude - were much slower than normally.
