DO NOT MISS THIS!!! Hearing the best sections of the RING in 60 minutes??? YES! No singers??? YES! Fast tempos??? EGAD!!! YES!!! This recording sounds wonderful and Eschenbach has NO idea about setting tempos in French music. This conductor has a terrible tendency to play slower music at glacial tempos, without really being capable of sustaining the musical line, which Bernstein, wayward as he could be, could do brilliantly, ... more

DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE ABOUT THIS DISC!!! While Reiner and the Chicago Symphony's recorded catalog are legendary, this recording is NOT a great one.
