This recording sounds wonderful and Eschenbach has NO idea about setting tempos in French music. This conductor has a terrible tendency to play slower music at glacial tempos, without really being capable of sustaining the musical line, which Bernstein, wayward as he could be, could do brilliantly, ... more |
