This is a mixed bag. Why did CBS/Sony issue this without surround mix when the RBCD has Bolby Surround tracks on it? The sound in two-channel SACD is quite good and the bass frequencies are very strong, without need for subwoofer. I would recommend avoiding this release on SACD and just finding the ... more |

Classic album... a magical time travel experience... GET THIS!
As per usual, MoFi has done lovely magic to get every bit of nuance out of the original master tapes. This is the best I have ever heard this album sound. My LP copy is so dead, compared to this.

These are some of the very best performances of Spanish repertoire to be heard ANYWHERE!!! Reiner, genius that he was, could sometimes be horribly wrong-headed about some interpretations. This is outstanding! The arrangements and the playing are lovely!
ONE CAUTION!!! This disc is mastered at a very HIGH volume level. Compared to other classical SACD's if you leave your volume setting at its usual place, the first chord of this disc will make you jump out of your skin.

This disc is useless. The instrument is non-descript, as is the playing. I am an organist and I found NOTHING exciting here. The performances are clean, that's all. The instrument has no 32 foot stops, so don't expect house-shaking bass, there is NONE!
