Notwithstanding all the Järvi-bashing this is an excellent recording in every way. Glorious sound and plenty of verve. This is an excellent version of Smetana's cycle. It is a four-channel recording dating from 1975, which suggests it may be an original quad recording. I just received this recording from Japan. While anything from Haydn and Schumann on SACD is welcome, this recording unfortunately fails to meet the most modest expectations.
