This is a real top notch recording. Here we have a complete Mendlessohn concert with an opening overture, followed by a concerto, and after a short intermission, a symphony. I think it would be nice to have more discs like this!

Nice that Linn has seen fit to reissue this wonder set of Beethoven piano sonatas on sacd. All four sonatas are wonderfully played by Artur Pizarro, and the sound is Linn's usual excellent sound. There's a lot to like here. |

Of the several Miles Davis JSACD's that I have, this one may indeed be the best sounding of all. Not much to add to what others have already written, just, if you like Miles, GET THIS ONE! |

I agree with Nick that the Concerto recording is a little small sounding, but the playing of Joseph Swensen more than makes up for it. I have enjoyed this recording a lot. The Hungarian Dances do tend to have a slightly bigger orchestral sound, and are all delightful pieces. All in all a very ... more |
