Well done recording and a definite required disc. One nitpick on the multi-channel SACD mix and that is there are a number of songs that come from the center channel. I was hoping that the sound problems I experienced with the Kobayashi Tchaikovsky Manfred recording on Exton would perhaps not be as persitent in this recording. It is not to be. Absolutely wonderful jazz in the samba style. I bought this expecting Guaraldi's similar sounding Charlie Brown Christmas. It is fantastic music-making. Wonderfully alive, full, and vivid recordings. The BIS team captures the orchestra beautifully and without any extreme reverberation or dryness. Of course, I love this music. The melodies and lyrical elements are beautiful and Ruud and his orchestra are obviously the right folks to do this music ... more

A much better performance than the Ashkenazy recording and in better sound. Suntory Hall (on the Ashkenazy recording) is a terrible venue. Kobayashi's recording is much fuller and richer.
