Reviews: Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 - Kobayashi

Performance:   Sonics:
I was hoping that the sound problems I experienced with the Kobayashi Tchaikovsky Manfred recording on Exton would perhaps not be as persitent in this recording. It is not to be. Kobayashi is perhaps the noisiest conductor I have EVER heard. The man can't shut up on the podium. Grunting, growling, pounding his foot. Shut up already, man. You are ruining a good performance by a great orchestra.

The performance isn't bad. Bruckner isn't entirely my favorite composer, but I do enjoy his music somewhat. His 7th is perhaps his most prayerful piece of music and the Czech PO performs well. However, the sound of Kobayashi growling and groaning is almost enough to make me violently ill. This will be my last purchase of a Kobayashi-conducted recording.
