No, this release will not do. Yes, the sound is very good, and the BPO orchestra is superb. But Zubin Mehta conducts routine performances, the Dvorak piece being specially limp and uninteresting, and maisky gives routine performances, that do not hold to competition in SACD. Hilary Hahn is one of the "new" young violin virtuosos marketed with great hype. This is a classic set of La Traviata. It was one of the few operas Carlos Kleiber conducted, and recorded, and his performance shows he knoiws the work very well: all is there, the kaleidoscope of emotions, the intensity, the joy and the despair. Carlos Kleiber was an absolute genius. Sadly, he did not record very much and his repertoire was very limited. Therefore every disc is an event. This disc is a real treasure. Much has been written about the performances, which have the "reference" status.
