On the suggestion of other members of these boards, I have purchased this recording. It is with some surprise and regret that I report that I find this Zander interpretation to be bland and unexciting.

This recording is a dream come true. The performance captured here is gorgeous, lyrical, emotional, well-played, beautifully phrased... It's a keeper.
The sound is amazing, and it's just how I like to hear orchestral recordings. Everything is there and the recording is quite transparent.

For me, this was an eagerly awaited release. I have enjoyed Neeme Jarvi's interpretations of Sibelius, and I thought there would be something special with his way about Tchaikovsky. Just a quick placeholder for now. I received this today from Elusive Disc, the only US online store I could find that sold it.

Move to the head of the class. The performance here by Chailly and the RCOA overshadows recent SACDs from Boulez and MTT. This is the real deal. FINALLY!
