Out of a velvety black background there he is....Willie. Just the right mix of instrumentals, complimentary, never overpowering. Great sound...Great music...Great SACD. If you are at all a Willie fan, get it.

You buy this one for the music, nostalgia, or because it is one of your faves. Soundwise I guess you get pretty much what was on the master tape and its fairly obvious that sound quality in an audiophile sense wasn't given much thought or priority back when it was first recorded. Jigs, Reels, Flings the whole bit. Real "Down Home Fiddlin'" played at some points with fabulous "Foot Stompin" intensity with possible floor damaging potential! Great playing with equally great sonic quality. IMHO everyone should have at least one example of the genre in their library and this SACD ... more

I like this one more and more each time I spin it. I didn't know what to really expect when I got it a while back and I wasn't overly impressed the first time I heard it. This one has me stymied, the recording quality is first rate, from a technical aspect the playing is first rate, But....the material IMHO is a dyed-in-the-wool snore bore! Except for too few and far between moments this is "Elevatoroso Supremo" if you get my drift. Again, that's just my opinion of ... more
