This performance IS a disappointment. Wigglesworth writes some fine liner notes with much insight as to the nature of the symphony and this raised my anticipation. Unfortunately, the playing is too slow. Also, it's too romantic. It's a Shostakovich 8 gone to Hollywood, if I may exaggerate; meaning ... more

No dts, though. And while the documentary of the synthesizer museum is fun (but too short, alas) the filmed concert in 3D is tiring to watch with or without 3d glasses; so save some money and buy the 2D version only. ... more

Sony receivers are very affordable and usually manufactured to SACD specifications regarding frequency ranges etc. Any ES model will do. (ES models used to be more expensive "top of the mid-range" models over your price limit, but nowadays the ES logo is used for cheaper models as well).
