in 5.1-channel surround sound alright

but for gawd's sake, why yet another missed opportunity for a high-profile SACD release?

With EMI groups the SACD "opportunity" will remain always unfinished...

No dts, though. And while the documentary of the synthesizer museum is fun (but too short, alas) the filmed concert in 3D is tiring to watch with or without 3d glasses; so save some money and buy the 2D version only.

And why the hell would they record everything in "high definition" and tout it as such, then release it on bloody DVD?

I would pick this up in a heartbeat on Blu-ray with a 24/192 5.1 PCM track.

(Okay, I ordered it in a heartbeat anyway, but with nowhere near as much excitement)

Hi,
This "musical" disc has just been given away free with a sunday newspaper.Last week.Even that I consifder a poor deal.
I must be honest and say my copy has gone in the recycling bin.My wife sometimes makes the correct decision.
I dont know if its a DTS surround version that was given away free or what.Jaisus was it boring. Why would a synthesized sound with very limited frequencies tunes or melodic content and a manic left / right pan happy producer be interesting in HI REZ.?.
The Ibiza sound is probably equally as interesting.
Luckily most of the music lovers on this site wont know about them.

Absolutely. There would be no difference soundwise. Jarre is an interesting guy though, I worked with him in 2004 in Beijing. But I'd say his music by itself is most of the time boring, the whole show is usually fun to watch.

Not sure about the limited frequencies. The synthesizers used at the time of recording the original Oxygene were mostly analogue.

The opportunities for surround sound however sound extremely exciting. And if you publish a recording in surround sound then why not use the best format?
